We offer our guests family-style Tyrolean hospitality in a relaxed atmosphere amidst the beautiful natural landscape of the Karwendel and Wetterstein mountains. In our traditional hotel, you will be looked after by 17 employees and ourselves as your hosts. Today, we are the third generation to run our adults-only hotel, Karwendel.
Thanks to a number of developments, you can now enjoy a bathing pond, a vitality pavilion with a magnificent panoramic view, a new gym, a yoga room and a spa with relaxation areas and an indoor-outdoor pool. We look forward to welcoming you here to enjoy many precious moments!

Owner Sebastian Rödlach works mostly behind the scenes. As head chef, he ensures that you enjoy your meal every evening, providing a choice of dishes prepared with high-quality local products as part of your 3⁄4 gourmet board.

With us, in the adult hotel Tirol, you can choose from different menus every day as part of the 3⁄4 gourmet pension. Always with a vegetarian option too! We pay particular attention to freshness, quality and, wherever possible, regionality.
From a summer retreat to an exquisite holiday destination
Sebastian’s grandparents were pioneers in the resort of Leutasch: when they opened Hotel Karwendel in 1972 as a hotel/guesthouse with 30 beds and a small restaurant, it was the first hotel in Leutasch!
As the third generation of hosts, we consider ourselves fortunate to be able to care for our guests in Alpenhotel Karwendel in the midst of unspoilt nature and in a wonderfully peaceful location.
There have been a number of milestones along the journey to making our Tyrolean hotel a relaxing haven for adults and an active destination for hikers, cross-country skiers and golfers:
- Seven years after Bernhard Rödlach and his wife Martina took over the hotel in 1980, they began ambitious renovations and extensions. It is thanks to their entrepreneurial impulse and to the extension works in 1994 and 2006 that Alpenhotel Karwendel has become one of the leading 4-star hotels in the region.
Since 2010, Alpenhotel Karwendel has focused on holistic relaxation for adults. In addition to a Mediterranean-style spa and vitality area, guests seeking relaxation will find ample peace and quiet at our adults-only hotel – and enjoy the panoramic view of the picturesque Wetterstein mountains from the relaxation room and the natural bathing pond all year round.
- In 2014, Sebastian Rödlach and his wife Marion were the third generation to take over the hotel, which was further expanded in 2015 and now has 93 beds in rooms that will delight even the most demanding guests, along with a spa, a gym and a seminar room.
- In 2022, the hotel was further extended: the eastern part of the wellness area, in the main hotel building, now extends over three floors with various relaxation areas and an indoor-outdoor pool. Additionally, all rooms were refurbished.
- Since 2023, hotel facilities also include the Karwendel Berglodge holiday apartments, which are located 150 metres from the main building and offer flexible accommodation in new, stylish spaces.
Following the birth of Roman Rödlach in September 2015, the fourth generation is already waiting to carry on the family tradition!
YOUR HOSTS
“When you grow up in a family hotel business, you might find your four-year-old self serving a pot of coffee to guests’ tables.” Sebastian Rödlach laughs as he tells us this anecdote about his childhood talent for hospitality. Now, his son Roman is exploring what there is to discover in and around the hotel.
Marion and Sebastian have a soft spot for great cuisine and fine wines. They also enjoy sharing this with their guests: as head chef, Sebastian has been treating guests to delicacies from Tyrolean and international cuisine since 2016. Marion, as sommelière, serves the perfect wine accompaniment. Whenever there is time to relax, they both go for a round on the golf course – it’s a good thing that there are seven of them in the immediate vicinity!
Unfortunately, the two senior partners in the business, Martina and Bernhard, have passed away. We will keep them in loving memory and thank them for their care and love. Without their tireless work, Karwendel would not be what it is today.

Using the advance check-in, you can let us know beforehand if you would like us to prepare anything for you in addition to registration and getting your room ready: advance check-in is just as popular with our regular guests as it is with first-time guests on short stays.
